东沙镇位于岱山岛西北端，北濒岱衢洋，东邻岱东镇，南与高亭、岱西两镇接壤。最大海湾由西沙角、念母岙、沙河口自西而东环列，至山渚头岬角形成半圈状。镇区坐落于大海湾东角--史称"东沙角"，镇由此得名。境内有东垦山、大寨子山、小寨子山等岛屿。总面积23.46平方公里。地势南高北低，气候冬暖夏凉。
