10月13日，2017第八届环太湖国际公路自行车赛湖州——长兴赛段开赛，来自世界五大洲的25支参赛车队，其中8支洲际职业队和17支洲际队，约130名职业自行车运动员展开激烈角逐。

　　据了解，环太湖赛是以地域特征“太湖”命名的国际公路自行车赛事，旨在推进“长三角”概念和展现“江、湖、河、海”丰富的地域特征，是江浙两省政府重点打造的国际品牌赛事。

　　本届赛事总长139.5公里，级别为UCI2.1。比赛中，选手们充分发挥体育竞技精神，为当地的老百姓展现了赛道上的“速度与激情”。

　　从2012年，浙江省与江苏省的体育部门等相关单位已成功举办了五届环太湖赛。湖州市便利的交通条件和优美的生态环境，非常适合公路自行车赛及马拉松等景观型体育赛事的举办。
