金华火腿是浙江金华地方传统名产之一。具有俏丽的外形，鲜艳的肉，独特的芳香，悦人的风味，即色、香、味、形，“四绝”而著称于世，清时由浙江省内阁学士谢墉引入北京，已被列为贡品，谢墉的《食味杂咏》中提到: “金华人家多种田、酿酒、育豕。每饭熟，必先漉汁和糟饲猪，猪食糟肥美。造火腿者需猪多，可得善价。故养猪人家更多。”为中国腌腊肉制品中的精华。金华出产的“两头乌”猪，后腿肥大、肉嫩，经过上盐、整形、翻腿、洗晒、风干等程序，数月乃成。香味浓烈。便于贮存和携带，已畅销国内外。

Jinhua ham is one of the local traditional specialties in Zhejiang Jinhua. 　　普遍认同的说法是火腿相传起源于北宋，北宋名将宗泽战胜而还，乡亲争送猪腿让其带回开封慰劳将士，因路途遥远，便撒盐腌制以便携带。腌制而成的猪腿色红似火，称为火腿。宗泽的故事确有其事，火腿的原先名字就被宗泽叫做家乡腿。

It’s generally agreed that the ham originated from the Northern Song Dynasty, ZongZe, a famous general in the Northern Song Dynasty won the war and returned, the villagers scrambled to give him pig’s legs, let him take back to comfort soldiers in Kaifeng. Because of distant journeys, they sprinkle salted to carry. The pig's leg pickled are red just like fire, known as ham. Zongze's story is really happened, the original name of the ham is home legs called by ZongZe.

　　1995年4月6日，首批百家中国特产之乡命名宣传活动组委会在北京人民大会堂授予浙江省金华市“中国金华火腿之乡”称号。

April 6, 1995, Organizing Committee for Publicity Activities responsible for naming the first batch of 100 Chinese specialty villagers, award the title "China Jinhua ham town" to Zhejiang Jinhua at the Great Hall of People in Beijing.
