普陀山，与山西五台山、四川峨眉山、安徽九华山并称为中国佛教四大名山，是观世音菩萨教化众生的道场。普陀山雄峙于浙江杭州湾以东莲花洋，地球上最神秘的北纬30度纬线穿过岛屿中部，我国东部长三角旅游带枢纽，是中国佛教四大名山之一，也是我国唯一以海岛自然风光和宗教历史文化兼胜的国家首批重点风景名胜区、全国首批5A级景区、全球优秀生态旅游景区，素以“海天佛国、南海观音道场”闻名于世。根据国务院批准的《普陀山风景名胜区总体规划》，普陀山景区由普陀山、豁沙山、洛迦山岛和朱家尖岛东部组成，总面积41.95平方公里，核心景区普陀山岛面积12.5平方公里。

It is one of the four famous mountains of Buddhism in China. It is also the only one of the first batch of national key scenic spots in China with the island natural scenery and culture of religious history, the first batch of 5A class scenic spots, global excellent ecological tourism scenic spot, known as "Buddhist Fairyland on the Sea, and Ashram of Nanhai Guanyin". According to the Master plan of Mount Putuo Scenic Area, approved by The State Council, the Mount Putuo Scenic Area consists of Mount Putu, Mount Gowan, Luo Gaoshan Island and the eastern part of Zhu Jiajian Island, with a total area of 41.95 square kilometers, the core area of Mount Putuo is 12.5 square kilometers.

　　普陀山是全国最著名的观音道场，佛教圣地，寺院无论大小， 都供奉观音大士。可以说是“观音之乡”了。每逢农历二月十九、六月十九、九月十九分别是观音菩萨诞辰、出家、得道三大香会期，全山人山人海，寺院香烟缭绕，一派海天佛国景象。

It's called "the hometown of Guan Yin".
