CNCAO NEWS Today is the 80th anniversary of the July Seven Events. It is the beginning of the War of Resistance Against Japan, which is one of the most protracted and bloody conflicts of World War II. The War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1937-45) ravaged the land, but also united the Chinese, irrespective of political affiliation.

“赐旗一面，时刻随身，伤时拭血，死后裹身”。这些话来自于王建堂的父亲写的一封信，他在儿子于1937年12月去前线参战的时候送给他一块写有这些字的白旗。后来，王建堂的腿受了伤时将它用作绷带。

This flag I give you,keep it always by your side,for it can wipe your blood while you are still alive,and wrap your body upon your death. Those words are from a poem in a letter written by Wang Jiantang's father on a piece of white cloth that he gave to his son as the young man left for the front lines of war in December 1937. It later served as a bandage when Wang sustained leg injuries.

　　在浙江，八年抗战，各县房屋损毁732900余间，农业损失耕牛超过10万头，公有粮食损失245万石，而减少产粮约在56亿石。工业损失3924080万元（旧法币，折合当时约327亿美元）。教育文化损失3343402万元（旧法币，约合当时约278亿美元）。而最重要的人口，较战前下降150多万，仅死于细菌战的人口就超过6万。这些数字还不包括因统计资料缺乏而无法列入的许多重要经济项目的直接损失，也基本上不包括各种间接的损失。

In Zhejiang, the Eight-year War of Resistance Against Japan destroyed over 732,900 houses and over 100,000 farm cattles were lost in agriculture, public grain were damaged as much as 245,000 strands and the decreased grain were about 5.6 billion strands. Besides, the industrial loss was about 39.2408 trillion yuan in the old days ( about 32.7 billion dollars at that time ) and the loss of education and culture was about 33.43402 trillion yuan according to the old currency ( about 27.8 billion dollars at that time ). As for the population, the most important part, lowered more than 1.5 million compared to the days before the war that the number of population only died from Germ War surpasse 60,000. These numbers didn't include dozens of significant direct loss of economic projects which hadn't been listed because of the lack of statistics or diverse indirect loss basically.

北京时间7月6日，95岁的王秋和其他30名退伍军人聚集在南京市，纪念在七七事件80周年，这一冲突导致了抗日战争(1931 - 1945年)的全面爆发。

　　Wang Qiu, 95, and 30 other veterans gather on july six Beijing Time in Nanjing, to mark the 80th anniversary of a skirmish in Beijing that led to full-scale fighting in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45).

　　由于战争给浙江造成了如此巨大的破坏，浙江的现代化进程因而受到重创。一般认为，直到1952年，整个经济才恢复到战前的最高水平。

For the great damage brought to Zhejiang by the war, its process of modernization occurred huge recession. In general speaking, the whole economy didn't recover to the highest level before the war until 1952.
